COVID-19 Safety
We are closely watching and observing CDC guidelines as the pandemic continues to evolve. Kent State University monitors the spread of COVID-19 in the community and recommends face coverings when community spread is high. Some off-campus partner conference locations currently require face coverings and proof of COVID-19 vaccination for all visitors (these will be clearly marked on our schedule along with details about what is required as proof).
Conference attendees are additionally encouraged to take a COVID-19 test before departing for Kent, OH. Because of the ever-changing nature of the pandemic, our plans are subject to change to adapt to new conditions that might arise. Kent State University’s decisions will continue to be guided by the best public health science and recommendations from federal, state, and local health agencies.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
-Test before you come! Whether taking a PCR or a rapid-test before the start of the conference, testing before coming makes it less likely you would bring COVID-19 into our beloved printmaking community.
-Wear masks! Throughout the conference, MAPC encourages all attendees to wear masks at lectures, demonstrations, and meetings.
-Talk with each other about risks. Are you planning to meet up for dinner with others? Have a conversation about what feels most comfortable (i.e. indoor dining vs. outdoor dining) and plan accordingly.
-
Masks are an expression of community care. Within our printmaking community, we have members who live with chronic health conditions, who parent small children, who are our elders, or who for any number of reasons, are at higher risk if they are contract COVID-19. By wearing masks, we demonstrate our care, concern, and respect for those in our community who live with higher risks in their lives.
Given recent outbreaks at gatherings of printmakers, MAPC recognizes that mask wearing is a proven public health strategy to stop the spread of COVID-19.
