DIY Brayers
Demonstration organized by Ross Mazzupappa
Description
Accessibility has always played a role in the printmaker's ability to produce their work. We are accustomed to specialized tools, equipment, and spaces in which to work. This demonstration will educate the audience on how to make their own urethane roller or brayer suitable for student and professionals alike. These brayers made in this DIY method cost a fraction of commercially available options and can hold up to regular use.
Hopefully giving underfunded programs, creative spaces, community printshops, and underprivileged artists means to share their creative voices. At the 2020 remote symposium, Ross demonstrated how to make DIY rollers; this year his demonstration will focus on DIY brayers, with updated research and resources for participants to download.
