Enduring Images

Themed Portfolio Exchange organized by Josh MacPhee and Maggie Denk-Leigh

Description

Powerful political graphics can capture, in a single image, the energy of a moment. A number of these graphics also transcend their time, reemerging throughout history and persisting—repurposed over and over again for people's struggles. From Goya to Posada, the Atelier Populaire to Act-Up, artists and designers have created a pantheon on engaged imagery we continue to draw from. Participants are asked to respond to these images—curated by portfolio organizers—in order to produce new printed works expanding this history and conversation through visual narratives.
