We Want More

Exhibition by Josh MacPhee

Description

We Want More is a pop-up exhibition that represents an abbreviated overview of Josh MacPhee’s exhibition project We Want Everything, which opened in spring 2022 in the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Reinberger Gallery. We Want Everything transformed Reinberger Gallery into an active maker space that mined the history of print and its connection to political activism, posters, radical music and book publishing design. The exhibition encouraged visitors to engage in the printmaking process, mixing and matching imagery and ideas throughout the history of art and organizing for a better world. We Want Moreshares elements of the previous exhibition, alongside an archive of images that were produced by students, faculty and gallery visitors over the course of We Want Everything’s run, from remixed RISO posters to larger-than-life screenprints. At its core, We Want More is an exploration of an ever-evolving exhibition project by MacPhee that centers printmaking as a communal cultural practice. MacPhee will present a keynote lecture at CIA’s Peter B. Lewis Theater in part of the MAPC Conference on Sunday, October 16.

All visitors are required to follow CIA’s masking protocols, which change based on the CDC’s Community Level for Cuyahoga County. To view current masking requirements, visit cia.edu/covid.
