Exhibition of artworks by Noah Breuer and Golnar Adili
Description
Breuer and Adili each draw upon source material they collect from family archives and letters of correspondence. Recasting their imagery through myriad print methods and materials, their work seeks to bridge their past and contemporary familiar history and explore the fusion of traditional printmaking techniques and new materials and technology. This two-person exhibition will present artworks that directly address the 2022 MAPC Conference sub-theme of “Resilience” as it relates to family, loss and love.
About the artists
Noah Breuer and Golnar Adili’s creative work examines themes of family separation, identity and diaspora. Breuer and Adili draw upon source material collected from family archives, cultural iconographies and ephemera.
Recasting their imagery through various print methods in conjunction with books, arts and sculpture, their work seeks to bridge the past and contemporary experience.
Golnar Adili is an Iranian artist who makes print-based work based on her parents’ vast archives of photographs, documents, and letters to extract symbols of physical and emotional separation. Drawing from a background in architecture and working across various media, she interprets these motifs in tactile, sculptural forms that continually reference the body and domestic space.
Noah Breuer is an American artist and Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo SUNY. Exploring the fusion of traditional printmaking techniques and new materials and technology is fundamental to his art practice.
